Guideline for Reviewers

Thank you for supporting peer review at CJBEHM. Your expertise helps maintain the quality and integrity of published research.

The Review Process

01

Receive Invitation

You will receive an email invitation from the editor. Review the title and abstract to determine if the manuscript falls within your expertise. Accept or decline within 3 business days.

02

Read the Manuscript

Download and read the full manuscript carefully. Note your initial impressions and identify major and minor concerns before writing your formal review.

03

Write Your Review

Structure your review with a brief summary, major concerns, minor concerns, and a final recommendation. Be specific — reference section numbers, lines, or tables where relevant.

04

Submit Your Recommendation

Submit your review through the editorial portal within the agreed deadline (typically 21 days). Choose one of: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject, with justification.

Evaluation Criteria

Originality & Novelty

Does the work present new findings, perspectives, or methods not previously reported?

Scientific Rigour

Are the methodology, analysis, and conclusions sound and logically consistent?

Relevance & Scope

Does the manuscript fit within the journal's scope of business, economics, or health management?

Literature Review

Is the background comprehensive and are the most relevant works cited appropriately?

Clarity of Writing

Is the manuscript clearly written, well-organised, and free from grammatical errors?

Data & Evidence

Is the supporting data adequate and are the conclusions justified by the evidence?

Ethical Compliance

Does the study raise any ethical concerns regarding participants, data, or conflicts of interest?

Practical Significance

Does the work have implications for practice, policy, or future research?

Reviewer Ethics

▸All reviewed manuscripts are strictly confidential. Do not share or discuss them with others.
▸Decline the invitation if you have a conflict of interest with any of the authors.
▸Do not use any information from the manuscript for your own research before publication.
▸Provide constructive, objective feedback — avoid dismissive or overly harsh language.
▸If you suspect research misconduct (plagiarism, data fabrication), notify the editor immediately rather than including it in your review.
▸CJBEHM uses single-blind review (you know the authors, but they do not know you).

Reviewer Recognition

CJBEHM publishes an annual list of reviewers in our end-of-year issue and issues a personalised Certificate of Peer Review upon request. Reviewers are also eligible for a 25% APC discount on their own future submissions.
