Ethics & Disclosures
CJBEHM is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics in line with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

Authorship Criteria
- •All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to conception, design, data acquisition, or analysis.
- •All authors must have participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript for intellectual content.
- •All authors must have approved the final version and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
- •Corresponding authors must confirm that all co-authors meet these criteria. Gift or ghost authorship is not permitted.

Conflict of Interest
- •All authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could influence the work.
- •Funding sources must be declared in the Acknowledgements section of the manuscript.
- •Reviewers must disclose conflicts to the Editor in Chief and recuse themselves when necessary.
- •Editors must not handle manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest.

Plagiarism & Originality
- •Submitted manuscripts must be original and not previously published in any language.
- •All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software. A similarity index above 20% results in rejection.
- •Self-plagiarism (recycling substantial portions of one's own prior work without citation) is not acceptable.
- •Proper attribution is required for all quoted material, figures, tables, or data sourced from other works.

Research Data & Reproducibility
- •Authors are encouraged to make their data, code, and methods available to support reproducibility.
- •Data fabrication or falsification is a serious violation and will result in retraction and notification of institutions.
- •Authors must retain raw data for a minimum of 5 years after publication.
- •For studies involving human participants, IRB/ethics approval documentation must be provided upon request.

Corrections, Retractions & Appeals
- •Authors who identify errors in published work are obligated to notify the Editor promptly.
- •Corrections are published as errata linked to the original article.
- •Retractions are issued for papers found to contain fabricated data, plagiarism, or unresolvable errors.
- •Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written rebuttal to the Editor in Chief within 30 days.

Human & Animal Research
- •Research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki.
- •Institutional Review Board (IRB) or equivalent ethics committee approval is required for human studies.
- •Animal studies must comply with applicable national and institutional guidelines for animal welfare.
- •Informed consent of participants must be confirmed in the Methods section.
COPE Membership
CJBEHM follows the ethical guidelines and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All editors and reviewers are expected to adhere to these principles. Suspected misconduct should be reported to ethics@cjbehm.ca.
